"True Romance" is a 1993 American romantic crime film directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino. The film follows the story of Clarence Worley (played by Christian Slater), a lonely comic book store employee who falls in love with a call girl named Alabama Whitman (played by Patricia Arquette).
After a whirlwind romance, Clarence marries Alabama and decides to start a new life with her in California. However, things quickly go awry when Alabama's former pimp (played by Gary Oldman) comes looking for her, and the couple ends up stealing a suitcase full of cocaine that they plan to sell to a Hollywood producer (played by Saul Rubinek) in order to start a new life together.
What follows is a wild and violent ride through the criminal underworld, as Clarence and Alabama are pursued by a cast of colourful characters, including a gangster named Vincenzo Coccotti (played by Christopher Walken) and his sadistic enforcer (played by James Gandolfini).
"True Romance" is known for its sharp dialogue, stylish direction, and strong performances by its ensemble cast. The film is also notable for its connections to other works by Tarantino, including the character of Alabama, who is said to be related to the character of Mia Wallace from "Pulp Fiction."
While "True Romance" was not a huge commercial success upon its initial release, it has since become a cult classic and is widely regarded as one of the best crime films of the 1990s. The film's mix of action, romance, and dark humour has influenced many other movies and has made it a favourite among fans of the crime genre.
